Our Warranty Philosophy

At Baltimore IBC Tanks, we believe that a warranty is more than just a piece of paper - it's a promise. A promise that we stand behind every tank that leaves our facility, and a commitment to your complete satisfaction with your purchase.

Since 2010, we've built our reputation on quality, transparency, and customer service. Our warranty program reflects these core values. We don't hide behind fine print or make claims difficult to process. When something goes wrong, we make it right - quickly and fairly.

Every tank we sell, whether new, reconditioned, or used, undergoes a thorough inspection process. But we know that sometimes issues can arise after purchase. That's why we've designed our warranty program to give you peace of mind and protect your investment.

Our philosophy is simple: treat every customer the way we'd want to be treated. If a tank doesn't meet our standards or yours, we'll work together to find a solution that works for everyone.

Covered Scenarios

Resolution: Full replacement provided under 1-year new tank warranty. Customer received expedited delivery to minimize downtime.

Resolution: Replacement gasket and new lid assembly provided under warranty. Technician inspected other seals as a courtesy.

Bottle Crazing/Stress Marks

Resolution: Determined to be manufacturing defect. Full tank replacement issued with next-day delivery.

Not Covered Scenarios

Why Not Covered: Damage resulted from using incompatible chemicals. Always check material compatibility before use.

What Voids the Warranty

To ensure your warranty remains valid, please avoid the following. Understanding these limitations helps protect your investment.

Improper Chemical Storage

Storing chemicals incompatible with the tank material (HDPE). Always verify chemical compatibility before use. Acids, solvents, and certain industrial chemicals may damage the bottle.

Extreme Temperature Exposure

Subjecting tanks to temperatures outside the rated range (generally -40F to 140F). Extreme heat can warp the bottle, while extreme cold may cause brittleness.

Physical Abuse or Mishandling

Damage from drops, forklift impacts, improper stacking, or other physical trauma. Tanks should be handled with appropriate equipment and care.

Unauthorized Modifications

Drilling holes, welding, cutting, or otherwise modifying the tank structure. Any alterations must be performed by authorized technicians.

Exceeding Weight Capacity

Overfilling beyond rated capacity or stacking more tanks than recommended. Standard IBC tanks are rated for 2-high stacking when full.

Pressure or Vacuum Damage

Using tanks for pressurized applications or creating vacuum conditions. Standard IBC tanks are not pressure vessels.

UV Damage (Improper Storage)

Extended outdoor storage without UV protection. While some tanks are UV-stabilized, prolonged direct sunlight will degrade the material.

Failure to Follow Instructions

Not following provided usage, maintenance, or storage guidelines. Keep documentation and follow all recommendations.

Third-Party Repairs

Repairs or reconditioning performed by unauthorized parties. All warranty work must be performed by Baltimore IBC Tanks or approved partners.

Normal Wear and Tear

Gradual deterioration from regular use over time. Minor scratches, scuffs, and fading are expected and not covered.

Cosmetic Damage After Delivery

Scratches, dents, or other cosmetic issues that occur after the tank leaves our facility. Report any shipping damage immediately.

Removal of Labels/Markings

Removing or altering manufacturer labels, serial numbers, or safety markings. These are required for warranty identification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common warranty questions below.

How do I know if my tank is still under warranty?

Check your purchase date against the warranty period for your tank type: New tanks have 1 year, reconditioned have 90 days, and used tanks have 30 days. If you registered your warranty, you can also check your confirmation email or contact us with your order number for verification.

Can I get a refund instead of a replacement?

In most cases, we offer replacement or store credit rather than refunds. However, if we cannot provide a suitable replacement, we may offer a full refund at our discretion. Refunds are processed within 10 business days of approval.

What if I lose my receipt?

We maintain records of all purchases. Contact us with any information you have (date of purchase, payment method, delivery address) and we can look up your order. This is another reason we recommend registering your warranty online.

Do I need to return the defective tank?

For most claims, we will arrange pickup of the defective tank at no cost within our service area. For minor issues, we may send replacement parts without requiring the tank to be returned. Outside our service area, return shipping may be required.

What counts as "normal wear and tear"?

Normal wear includes minor scratches, scuffs, slight fading from UV exposure, and gradual deterioration of gaskets and seals over time. Structural failures, premature seal failures, and manufacturing defects are NOT normal wear and are covered.

Can I use the tank while my claim is being processed?

If the tank is still functional and safe to use, you may continue using it. However, do not attempt repairs yourself as this may void the warranty. If there is a safety concern (significant leak, structural damage), discontinue use immediately.

What happens if my claim is denied?

We will explain the reason for denial in writing. You may provide additional information or documentation for reconsideration. Even if denied, we often offer discounted repair services as a goodwill gesture for valued customers.

Are accessories and add-ons covered under warranty?

Accessories purchased separately (additional valves, adapters, heaters, etc.) have their own warranty terms, typically 90 days. Accessories included with the tank at purchase are covered under the tank warranty.

What if the same problem happens again after a warranty repair?

If the same issue recurs within 30 days of a warranty repair, we will repair it again at no charge. If it recurs a third time, we will replace the tank entirely regardless of the original warranty terms.

Can I upgrade my warranty after purchase?

Extended warranties must typically be purchased at the time of the original sale. However, we occasionally offer warranty upgrade promotions. Contact us within 30 days of purchase to inquire about upgrade options.

Does the warranty cover damage during shipping?

Yes, shipping damage is covered. Report any visible damage to the delivery driver and note it on the receipt. Contact us within 48 hours with photos. We will file a claim with the carrier and provide a replacement.

What if I modified the tank after purchase?

Unauthorized modifications void the warranty. If you need modifications, contact us first - we offer professional modification services that maintain warranty coverage. Modifications we perform come with their own warranty.
